"It has been a wonderful three decades, we are so very grateful to ALL who have supported the 5C over the years." Trudy Silver & Bruce Morris

After over 30 years of commitment to the community, The 5C Cultural Center & Cafe has closed it's doors. From feeding the homeless to protesting for justice to supporting the arts and music of the Lower East Side community, Trudy & Bruce were unstoppable. It was very sad to hear that while closing up shop, the 5C was robbed of all the artwork, music equipment, kitchen appliances, rented equipment and Trudy's beloved baby grand piano. We have all heard her passion for music in every note she played, and how she taught the kids. The theft at the 5C has left a debt to be paid. All contributions are appreciated, no donation is too small, thank you for your continued support through this GOFUNDME.

The 5C Cultural Center & Jazz Cafe was the inspiration of five lower east side residents during the early 1980s. With firm roots as artists, educators, gardeners and urban homesteaders, we survived the turbulent times of “alphabet city”. Thus we share a belief in retaining the best historic and cultural traditions of the neighborhood while continuing to foster empowerment in this diverse community.
